Today we are going to continue with our Tarot Tutorials and specifically I am going to talk about the 9 of Swords. The swords all talk about different ways of processing thought, and in the Nine of Swords you have all these swords pointing to the ground and you have blood there. Behind the swords, that is a reflection of our spirit.
This is a time when you have really been sabotaging yourself and you are down on yourself. You are playing over and over thoughts in your mind like, "I should have done this; I could have done that; why didn't they do this?" – all of those pain tapes. It's like you keep wounding yourself and your spirit is bleeding because of the way that you have been wounding yourself. The way that I was taught is that you have put yourself into this situation in one way or another and it's only you that can pull yourself out of the situation.
I think it would be really useful to find some different processes to change your mental self-talk. Some Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) would be wonderful. A really neat book that I have on my website store is "Every Word Has Power" by Yvonne Oswald. It's an awesome little book. (You can purchase it through my website at www.marveena.com.)
You can also look at self-hypnosis opportunities. Hypnosis is a great way to help you change the way you run your thought patterns. We have choices to make all the time. We can choose to be sad or angry about something. This card is showing that you are making a choice to put yourself into this state of mind, and now you have to make a choice to pull yourself out of it. It's possible, but you have to make up your mind to move forward.
You can use the other 9 cards in the tarot deck to help you. Ones that will be really useful are the Hermit and the Moon cards, as the other 9 value cards. All of them, if you study them, and meditate on them, will just give you different ideas to help you recognize how you put yourself into this state of mind and different ways that you can make choices to move out of this state of mind. This card is about self-cruelty and we want to be our own best friend rather than be our own worst enemy.
The astrological influences and the planetary influences here are Mars and Gemini. Mars is a very action oriented planet and it can have a very aggressive energy so if you are on a pity party then the Mars energy can really drive it home and you don't want that. The Gemini energy helps us to go back and forth "Should I do this or should I do that?" and this energy can really make things happen fast but on the flip side is that once we start to pull ourselves out of this funk then that energy can help us to find a more fortunate expression.
I hope you have enjoyed this article today on the tarot. This is just a little bit of an explanation and some of the possible interpretations of this card. If you would like to have the meanings of the reversal, because if this card is upside down it has a different twist, you can look at my other articles on my blog. I also have free audio articles on iTunes.
I hope that you have a powerful day!
